Covid-19 and a Dry without Tourists

Well where did that year go?!!

I knew it had been a while since I updated my website but how did that much time go by?

The last few months have been challenging for me on a few fronts, but Covid-19 has made it super tough for everyone with musicians and artists being hit hard. I've been in and out of a black hole, wondering what the hell is going to happen and how was I going to pay the bills after all my gigs and projects were shut down and the prospect of any other work reduced to zero.
Thank goodness for Jobkeeper!
I am also grateful for my place at Daly River where I went and hid out for a couple of those months, strapped on my whippersnipper and worked on the overdue maintenance every day, which kept my mind busy and my body exhausted but fit.

Now I'm back in Darwin where we are so lucky to have had the Covid-19 restrictions lifted and can start gigging again.
Plus the dry season weather has kicked in, so it's a beautiful place to be.
We still have our border closures in place so there will be few interstate visitors for us this dry season, which while being a disaster for our tourism industry and others that rely on the influx of visitors, I am pretty happy with the thought of having Litchfield and Kakadu parks to ourselves ;)

Another result of border closures mean this years Darwin Festival will be all locals! So I'm looking forward to seeing all of the incredible NT talent up on the big stages getting a chance to showcase their amazing creativity to our large festival loving audiences. I'll be doing a small performance but can't reveal what until July 9 when the program is officially released.

I am also lucky enough to be able to continue my program of FREE lunchtime concerts in the CBD with my project Lunch on the Lawn, every Wednesday from 12-1pm on the front lawn at Tourism Top End. All local performers and a fabulous place to sit and have your lunch. Check out the program here

The upside of all this upheaval has meant I've had plenty of time to think about what I've been doing with my life and really dissect what's important to me. I've immersed myself in online tutorials on production and songwriting, and am busy writing grants to be able to record a new album, hopefully myself in the production shoes with a little help from good friend Lewis Parsons and plenty of youtube time!

But most importantly it's been time to focus on what really drives me, which is singing, songwriting, recording and helping other women songwriters achieve their goals.

Life is so short and flying by at a rapid pace so I encourage you to find your passion in life and pursue it wholeheartedly. The universe has your back so dive in and do what you love.

I am going to give it my best shot.
