How is it October already!

I can't believe we are already in October! Time is FLYING past!!

Who am I? where am I? What am I doing here?!! 😆

I got back from my 3 months overseas in late August, and as soon as I was over the jetlag, and had myself and my trusty old ute serviced, I was back on the road. After months of hedgerow highways and tall buildings, I was hanging for some wide open spaces and BIG sky country. Nothing else beats that bill than the great Barkly! 😍

And this time I had a bit more time to get to where I was going, so I camped out at some really gorgeous spots off the beaten track (well a few k's off the highway!) like Camooweal billabong, Long Waterhole and Lara Station Wetlands. Met some really nice people and got up close and personal with the wildlife! 🦆 🐗

Below pics from my swag at sunset ❤️

My destination was Hervey Bay, to relieve my good friend Marita of one very energetic and excitable Jack Russell so she could take some time during school holidays to go hiking in the parks in SE QLD Hinterland. It was very fun hanging out with Bertie (and Marita!) for a few days. She even helped me roll out my swag! 😍

Next it was a pretty grueling couple of days drive down the Newell to Uranquinty, overnighting at Moree. Can't do huge distances in a day when you're sitting on 90 to conserve fuel! 🐢

Arrived at the sports ground just in time to set up camp before the first beer was cracked for the start of Quinty Folk Festival. 😀

What a fabulous little festival it was! So many amazing new friends met and ridiculously fun things done (aside from drink beer around campfires) like the Quinty Chorus Cup (which we won!) and the Vege Bowl (which I didn't 😆). You'll have to get yourself along to find out what they're about. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. THE best festival I've been to in a very, very long time. Thankyou Tracey and the team. We'll be back next year! ❤️

Now I'm in Ballarat hanging with good friends Rich and Mel and helping out with a bit of gardening and renos. I've had a couple of weeks inside catching up on some well overdue admin, mostly because I'd freeze my ass off if I went outside! 🥶

One of those admin things was to get my head around touring for next year, as Quinty audiences were so generous with offering gigs and house concerts after my shows. So the Excel spreadsheet Queen that I am got cracking!

First gig booked is the Illawarra Folk Festival January 15-17 in Bulli, so I'm hoping to get some Sydney shows in and around then. Will keep you in the loop. If you have any suggestions, please reply to this email and let me know! I'll shout you a beer if it's your local. 🍺

Then it was to have a good look at getting off social media. With Meta putting in sweeping changes to their AI scraping and link limiting, I think it's time. I'm looking for an alternative but in the meantime, I want to share more with you here, maybe a bit more often than every 3 months, but no more than twice a month. I know how I feel about getting emails every bloody day! UNSUBSCRIBE immediately 😂

Please let me know if there's too much in my emails, or if there's something you want me to add. I'm just here telling stories and hopefully giving you a chuckle or two along the way.

Plus letting you know where I'll be so we can catch up for a proper chin wag over a beer or a wine. 🍷

So this Thursday I'm heading North via Albury and Shenanigans Whiskey Bar where I've been invited to pop in for their jam night. If you're in the area, drop down for a drink and say gidday.

Then to Sydney for a couple of days before the drive up the coast to Coffs and a few weeks at my jij's place in Upper Orara to look after her gorgeous kelpie Meiha. Seems dog sitting has become my new job! Anyone else need their dog or house minded? Reckon I'd be able to supply more than a few references by now! 🦮🐕🐕‍🦺

So life is continuing to be an amazing adventure with my trusty old ute, my swag and guitar. I'm hoping I get to see you along the way somewhere.

Keep supporting your favourite artists by buying their music or tickets to shows as it's getting tough out there. Hug those you care about tightly and stay light hearted in these heavy times. ❤️

See you on the road!

Big hugs

Tracey xx
